VALUES

WHAT YOU PUT ON YOUR BODY MATTERS

At Nueve Los Angeles, we fearlessly set very high standards for ethical and environmental products that will last a lifetime. We believe the word sustainable is overused and greenwashed. Instead, we live by our values of slow fashion, timeless designs, and supporting fearless designers, local artisans, and change makers.

Our standards require compliance from every brand to prioritize social and environmental responsibility in their practices. By working closely with the over 40 designers featured on our site, we aim to be a welcoming space for ethical customers like you.

Our values will evolve over time due to the rapid innovation by designers, suppliers, and local artisans working towards raising the bar on ethics, health, safety, and transparency. You can shop easier knowing everything you buy aligns with our values and standards.

RECYCLED & UPCYCLED MATERIALS

Upcycling, downcycling, and recycling fabrics and materials are the future of fashion. Whether recycling fabrics left over from production to downcycling fabrics that consumers have used, our designers have taken the extra step to reduce waste and resources for their new collections.

Global Recycled Standard (GRS) & Global Recycled Claim Standard (RCS): These voluntary standards require third-party certification of recycled materials. Products using certified recycled materials save water and energy and redirect waste that would otherwise head straight for the landfill. The GRS includes additional social and environmental processing requirements and chemical restrictions criteria.
SOEX: Recycles used textiles for companies looking to reduce waste and give materials a second life.
